The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department preserves peace, reduces fear and provides a safe environment through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. It operates detective, traffic and crime prevention divisions. The department has a Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), which trains neighborhoods, community organizations and workplaces in emergency and disaster management skills. The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department conducts a neighborhood watch program that encourages citizens to help in law enforcement by reporting suspicious criminal activities. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an educational classroom program that helps to prevent drug abuse and violence among children.
