  A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of part or the entire uterus. A partial hysterectomy is a procedure in which the upper part of the uterus is removed but the cervix is left. A total hysterectomy is a procedure in which the entire uterus and cervix is removed. Finally, a radical hysterectomy is a procedure in which the entire uterus and support structure around the uterus are removed.

  This procedure is outpatient and is done in an office like setting without any cutting into the body and is done with local anesthesia. Thermachoice is a type of endometrial ablation that uses heat to treat the endometrium. This is achieved by inserting a silicone balloon like device through the vagina, which is heated to treat the lining of the uterus.

  Laparoscopy is used in diagnosing many problems. In this procedure a small incision is made in the abdomen and a laparoscope is inserted to view the uterus, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and ectopic pregnancies.
