Do NOT take anything to the Jared of St. Charles store for repairs. In October 2012, I paid Jared of St. Charles $615 to redo the prongs on my engagement/wedding band. Within one month, I lost one of the baguettes. After carefully examining the ring, Jared replaced the lost stone. Fast forward to May 2014 and a second stone is lost. I was told the prong repairs were no longer under warranty. They told me it would take 2 weeks to order in stones and match them to the ones in my ring and the cost would be $187. I've had the ring about 30 years and never lost a single stone until Jared of St. Charles "reinforced the prongs" to ensure I wouldn't lose any stones. I decided to take the ring to another Jared - the one in Lombard. Chrystal Clark, the assistant store manager at Jared's of Lombard said the prong repair was never done correctly at the St. Charles store because all they did was put new tips on the top - they did not strengthen the entire prong to the base, thereby leaving very thin prongs that easily pulled away from the diamonds. Crystal apologized for the shoddy work done at the Jared of St. Charles and said the Lombard store would replace the missing diamond and fix all the prongs the correct way free of charge. Furthermore, the ring would be ready in 4 days! When I got the ring back, I returned to Jared of St. Charles where the store manager told me it wasn't Jared's fault the ring was never fixed properly because Jared of St. Charles' repair shop is independently owned. Where is the customer service? When I take something to Jared to be repaired, I expect Jared to take responsibility for the quality of the work that comes out of their store. I paid Jared $615 for the prongs to be reinforced - the quality of the work obviously was not checked when the ring was originally returned to me; it wasn't checked when I lost the first diamond within 30 days of their repairs; and it wasn't checked when I lost the second diamond. I will NEVER shop at the Jared of St. Charles store again.
