The Sacramento County Department of Transportation constructs, operates and maintains a safe and efficient transportation system. The department maintains a staff of more than 350 employees. It operates a maintenance and operations division that is responsible for providing a well-maintained system of roadways and bridges. This division is also responsible for traffic engineering and neighborhood traffic management, signs and markings, tree and landscape preservation, and pavement, curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs. The Sacramento County Department of Transportation additionally operates a planning division that provides long-range transportation planning options that include policy development and coordination, working with partners on regional projects and gathering funds for capital improvement. The department maintains a financial administration division that is responsible for fund management, administrative services, information technology and quality programs.
