General Info
We are the premier ballet school in Sacramento, California. Deane Dance Center and The Crockett-Deane Ballet was founded by Barbara Crockett and her daughter and son-in-law; San Francisco Ballet dancers, Allyson Deane and Don Schwennesen Deane Dance Center is the prestigious founding school of the Sacramento Ballet. Since 1994, the school has won many nationally recognized awards In addition, adult level classes are available for ballet, jazz, dance conditioning, pilates, yoga & meditation, personal training and zumba. It is our desire and our goal to build a dancer with a beautiful spirit within & without. We believe in the art of discipline, work ethic, focus, creativity and support of one another. The Deane Dance Center appreciates each child's uniqueness. We encourage both the self-confidence that frees a child to be inquisitive and the discipline essential for learning. Our dance floors are all built on wooden platforms for spring and protection of little dancer bodies. Our floor coverings are of the highest quality materials used in professional studios: Marley Flooring. No dancers rehearse on concrete floors.

It is unfortunate that there are websites like this where individuals can go and say whatever they want without you, the reader, getting the whole story. If you are a parent who thinks your child is going to be a professional ballerina and star, you need to give your kid a break. There are VERY few who can become professional at any sport/activity. However, Deanne Dance is the place for your child to be treated fairly and compassionately. I have seen every race, every age, and every body type. And of course they do not want to put a child in a class they are not prepared for, and of course they are not going to advance a child who is not able to do the skill set for a particiular level as this is not safe for the dancer. These are professional dancers who want to educate children in dance; it is that simple. They emphasize the joy and technique of dance and to say that those who attend are snobs just shows the writer's own insecurities.

This is a professional ballet studio where you will learn real ballet "technique" Their students have gone onto dance professional. When you get to the upper levels there are many students who are home schooled. It is very competitive however, the students are nice, it just may take a while to fit in because they have all danced there forever. Talk to the staff, they have a lot of students but if you talk to them they will give you advice for your child. I have seen overweight and different ethnic races students here and have never seen anyone treated unfairly. We have been to a number of studios for workshops and such and I feel in this area there is no where else around as knowledgeable. If you really want to learn classic ballet this is the place to go. If they were not good they would not have been around so long. Few studios are as big and last as long and that is because they are so good.

Such a terrible place. Snobs. They are horrible! Many young girls have been hurt. They think they are so dead professional, so big shoot, they treat everyone who is a little old to be in the dance level they are horribly. Such a bad place. I know a little girl who was 12 when she started, she was African american. in Level 1. She got bad treatment, snubbed by teachers, dirty looks in hallways, all the other students snickering at them. Bad place to go. They even kicked her out of plays! because she wasn't good enough! Even though they were small plays that were supposed to be "open to everyone." Even though I thought she was just as good as the other girls. I still think they kicked her out because she was tall, black, and older. :( This girl was hurt and came out of the studio crying. Go away deance dance, you are bad people.

Bad place. Treats everyone who is not a perfect ballerina like dirt. i.e. someone who older and is in a low level. Or someone who is overweight, or just plain not very good. Complete snobs. Do not send your child there.
