- ObstetricsEvery patient is given an ultrasound exam at her first obstetrics visit. This exam is routinely performed between 8-11 weeks gestation. The ultrasound examination is performed with the use of a trans-vaginal camera. This provides a more accurate determination of your due date. At the time of this exam, you will be allowed to hear your baby’s heart beat for the first time. We will also evaluate the fetal size and location. An attempt to view the ovaries will also be made.

- Labor and DeliveryWomen First OB/GYN Center is an all-female practice consisting of nine physicians (MDs), five Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), one Nurse Practitioner (NP) and one Physician Assistant (PA). You can choose to meet with CNMs or MDs for your prenatal visits as appropriate to your care and needs. For patients who desire pain medication such as an epidural, both physicians and our CNMs perform births in labor & delivery. For women seeking a natural birth, our NMs also perform births in the Karmanos Natural Birth Center (KNBC) at Royal Oak Beaumont. Whether you choose a CNM or an MD, we encourage you to rotate through the team of providers. There is always a physician and a midwife on call together each day. We firmly believe that this team approach works well for our patients.
- Urinary Tract InfectionDuring your pregnancy if you need to be seen for anything other than OB care your insurance will be billed for services rendered. Example: cold, urinary tract infection, etc. Most policies will require you to pay your copay and or deductible.

- UltrasoundUltrasound examinations are a safe and painless procedure. Ultrasound scans use sound waves to construct a picture of your baby. An ultrasound is used to check the baby’s growth and take a head-to-toe look at the baby’s anatomy. The detail provided by an ultrasound depends on how far along you are in the pregnancy, the amount of fluid around the baby, and the size of the mother.
