The Texas Department of Criminal Justice manages offenders in state prisons, jails and private correctional facilities. It provides funding and certain oversight of community supervision services. The department offers public safety services, as well as promotes positive change in offenders behavior, reintegrate offenders into society and assist victims of crime. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice also provides victim notification, training, prison tour, finance, health care and information technology services. It operates various facilities, including the Correctional Institutions Division, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Corrections Corporation of America. The department also has the Rehabilitation & Reentry Programs division. In addition, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice operates a Correctional Institutions Division to provide safe and appropriate confinement, supervision, rehabilitation and reintegration of adult felons.
