IN Depth Restoration Services For Heavy or Severely Oxidized Finishes. At Detailers Mist we pride ourselves on the excellence of our work through our experience and our in depth studies of gel-coat. Detailers Mist is a Master paint coatings Refinishing company, it is what we are know for. From the very begining the goal of our company was to be able to restore and refinish a used old boat, of any condition, to an above factory finish. We have developed the most unique deepest, darkest, most rippled, fluid looking finish on the market period. We have studied and mastered the art of gel-coat restoration to what some would say would be an Unobtainable Look. This finish was named The Diamond Glass Finish by its inventor, Steve Carr. This Gelcoat Restoration service caused a ripple effect through the marinas and is the reason why you might know the name so well today. All of the products that we offer are products that we actually used in our"Diamond Glass Finish or are redeveloped substitutions that yield a very close result to our actual Diamond Glass Service. The Real Diamond Glass Service is very expensive and very unique but very worth it if you have a boat that you want to look unlike any others.Wet Sanding is a large part of our expertise at Detailers Mist. Wet Sanding takes an in depth understanding of how gel-coat/paint works; A good diagnosis comes with education through study and experience. Diagnosing the type and degree of oxidation any surface has is of the utmost relevance. Secondly, if If the Diagnoisis is done correctly it will need to be determined how much of the old oxidized surface must be removed. Sanding involves a process call gradiating. Gradiating is the degregation of a surface from one extreme to a lesser extreme until the surface becomes infused with micro scratches and no deeper scratches exist in the background. Improper Gradiation can lead to quite a few different problems including: 1.) too much gelcoat gets taken off when using heavier papers, 2.) Not enough Gelcoat taken off leading to a splotchy inconsistant finish, 3.) Not leaving enough room after sanding to rub-out sanding scratches with rubbing compound. This can cause you to wear through your paint/Gelcoat to the primer. 4.) Improper finishing- where you will see fish hooks, scratches and imperfections in the gelcoat. The result of a proper wet sand job should be a near flawless finish. It's not a good Idea to have any Jo's detailing company do your expert refinishers job, you get what you pay for. If you arrange to refinish your boat in the winter time in indoor heated storage..Detailers Mist is very price friendly compared to wanting it done in prime season! Peak season rates for Wet Sanding can Range From $175 - $750 per square Foot depending on how bad the surface needs to be restored. We are always here to help you even if your doing it yourself. We are just a phone call away. Call us if you need help 586-822-6323 ask for Steve.
