- Primary CarePatients seeking care for a Pulmonary, Infectious Disease or Sleep Medicine -related conditions from a PMA provider must be referred by their Primary Care Provider (PCP) or other provider authorized to make such referrals to specialists.
- Sleep DisordersThese could be signs of obstructive sleep apnea. Pulmonary Medicine Associates can help diagnose and treat sleep disorders to improve your quality of life.
- Infectious DiseasesPulmonary Medicine, Infectious Disease and Critical Care Consultants Medical Group, Inc (PMA), was incorporated in 1973. As the population of the Sacramento area grew, and as medicine became more specialized, it was clear to PMA that additional providers with specialized pulmonary training were needed and were recruited to the group. Because pulmonary providers frequently found themselves involved in the care of patients with pulmonary infections, the group found it important to add providers with specialty training in the area of infectious diseases.

- ImmunizationsTaking precautions against infections and illness before your next trip is a good investment in your health. Many parts of the world face epidemics and outbreaks of malaria, yellow fever, and food bourne hepatitis, just to name a few. Additionally, some countries require proof of vaccination against diseases like yellow fever and meningitis before they allow you to enter.
- Internal MedicinePulmonology is classified as an internal medicine subspecialty. Because pulmonologists encounter a variety of clinical problems, they must have knowledge of internal medicine and other specialties in order to obtain certification. Pulmonologists may serve as consultants to other physicians as well as provide long-term care to patients with chronic conditions.
- Colon CancerAt all four hospitals where PMA had intensivists agreements in 2011, Health Grades awarded 5 Stars for sepsis survival. Sepsis is a severe inflammatory reaction to an infection that claims around 215,000 lives each year. Sepsis contributes to more deaths than breast cancer, colon cancer, and AIDS.
- Lung CancerAt PMA, our physicians possess specialized knowledge and skill in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary (lung) conditions and diseases. From the common cold to allergies, emphysema to lung cancer, there are many illnesses which affect the lungs and the ability to breathe.
- UltrasoundEBUS provides real-time imaging of the surface of the airways, blood vessels, lungs, and lymph nodes allowing the physician to easily view difficult-to-reach areas and access more, and smaller lymph nodes. The accuracy and speed of the EBUS procedure lends itself to rapid onsite pathologic evaluation so that pathologists in the operating room can process and examine specimens and request additional samples if needed. EBUS is performed under moderate sedation and patients generally recover quickly and go home the same day. Endobronchial Ultrasound
- Wound CareAs specialists in the field of Wound Care, the providers of PMA will help you care for your wound and heal.
- GangreneHyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room. The therapy is a well-established treatment for decompression sickness, a hazard of scuba diving. Other conditions treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy include serious infections, bubbles of air in your blood vessels, burns, crushing injuries, gangrene, skin grafts and flaps at risk of tissue death, severe anemia, and wounds that won’t heal as a result of diabetes or radiation injury.
- LesionsElectromagnetic Navigation Technology. PMA physicians in our Roseville and Carmichael offices, are experienced in the use of superDimension Electromagnetic Navigation Technology (ENT). This procedure helps doctors reach lesions deep in the lungs, unreachable with bronchoscopy, with minimal trauma to the patient and enables them to diagnose benign and malignant lung disease. ENT provides computerized guidance, permitting needle biopsy instead of a surgical diagnostic procedure. ENT patients are usually treated under general anesthesia in the operating room.
