I stayed at the dukes twice and it is a nice place for it to be a motel and its cheap too

several years back, some friends and i were traveling to philly from d.c. we stopped at a fancy hotel along the way, but their rates were too steep for us. we asked the woman at the desk what other hotels were nearby. she replied (cue horror-movie theme music) "whatever you do, don't go to pulaski highway... but if you must, go to duke's." so of course, we drove straight to pulaski (and to duke's).what i recall most vividly was waking up at around 3 or 4 in the morning, to see a huge man in an all-white cowboy suit poking his head into our room. i screamed "what the ****," at which point he ducked out. i chased him down the stairs, but lost him. i believe that was mostly likely the eponymous "duke." compared to the other hotels on pulaski highway (and after that, we just had to go back to find out what could be worse) this place really is a paradise. other motels feature 3am police raids of adjoining rooms, one-armed desk-men behind bullet-proof glass, and more. happy travels!
