I took my car in for a vibration in the front end that was causing the steering wheel to vibrate terribly as well (i told the mechanic I felt it was a tire out of balance). I was told by the main mechanic I needed a new tie rod ($107). Had the tie rod replaced. This did not fix the problem. I took the car back and was then told i needed struts and new tires which would run over $700! I took my car elsewhere and had the tires balanced and rotated for $40 and the problem is gone! I called the mechanic at Independence Tire and confronted him about trying to screw me out of $700 and when I asked him.if he even checked the balance he could not answer. He told.me he knocked mud out of the tires and that was all. The tires have lots of tread and the other mechanic said I don't need struts, but that I do need lower control arms which is a reasonable cost. Lying to customers to get them to spend money is bad business.
