Rockwood Cottages is a village of cottages nestled on the shore of Moosehead Lake in Rockwood, Maine. We are located in the heart of a complete four-season vacation area, an area that has something for everyone to enjoy every season of the year! Here is a beautiful, crystal clear lake, 40 miles long and 20 miles wide. Moosehead is a boaters' paradise!! Explore sheltered inlets and coves and discover hidden beaches and picnic areas along the 400 miles of shoreline. To the left of our docks is the mouth of the Moose River so if the lake is too rough, canoers and kayakers can find calmer waters in the river. We have nearby golf courses, float plane rides, white water raft trips on the Kennebec and Penobscot rivers, boating, swimming, bicycling and fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, ATVing and more! The surrounding wilderness area has hundreds of miles of wood roads and trails offering visitors a chance to get back into the woods and providing fishermen access to the many ponds, streams and rivers. Hikers can take a leisurely walk down a quiet wooded trail or a challenging climb up Big Squaw, White Cap, Big Spencer or Mt Kineo. Mt Kineo, located directly opposite our docks, rises majestically out of Moosehead Lake forming a 700 ft.. Flint cliff. The Moosehead Lake Region offers some of the most beautiful, remote vacation opportunities in Maine! 4 of our cottages are newly renovated and boasts beautiful pine and comfortable furniture and accommodations.
