He received his undergraduate degree at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, where he received a B.A. in Integrative Studies (Legal Studies concentration), Magna Cum Laude. Before joining the firm, Baabak had five years of experience, including contract law, civil litigation, criminal law, and commercial leasing.

  Steve Schwinn has more than 30 years working as a trial attorney with the firm. He has been a Partner since 1988. Steve's substantial litigation experience includes defending multi-million dollar claims involving products liability, retail security, construction accidents and property damage. He was lead defense counsel in cases featured on 60 Minutes and The Justice Files, including one that led to Consumer Product Safety Commission hearings that modified pool equipment safety standards to reduce the risk of entrapment injuries. Steve serves as catastrophic claims counsel for clients in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He has also worked as consulting counsel on burn claims, and as regional coverage counsel for environmental insurance coverage litigation.

• Medical Malpractice
  Although all caps on recovery are necessarily fair, the General Assembly has previously approved caps where the unfairness can be minimized and where, on balance, the benefit to the public may be substantial (see e.g., § 8.01-581.15, medical malpractice cap). A majority on the House Committee did not believe there was sufficient data to suggest that adoption of the non-economic damages cap would favorably affect the cost and availability of liability insurance.
