- Laser Eye SurgeryYour eyes are your window to the world, so it’s vital to care for the set you have. If you wear glasses or contact lenses and wonder if there’s something better out there, you may want to think about LASIK.
- CataractsThe lens of the eye is normally clear with a flexible, jelly-like consistency. For clear vision, light needs to pass through the transparent lens to the retina. A cataract is a yellowish clouding over of the lens of the eye which grows thicker and harder over time. Most age-related cataracts develop from protein clumps in the lens. These may occur because of lifetime exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet light.

- UltrasoundTraditional cataract surgery is also known as phacoemulsification. The eye surgeon uses a scalpel to create a small incision in the cornea. A small instrument is then inserted through this opening and goes behind the pupil to the capsule containing the eye’s lens. The surgeon creates a round opening in the capsule and inserts a probe. The probe applies ultrasound waves to break up the cloudy lens and then suctions out the broken-up pieces. An artificial intraocular lens (IOL) is inserted in the capsule to restore vision.
- BotoxDynamic wrinkles form over time when muscles contract, usually with smiling or frowning. Some examples are wrinkles between the eyelids or “crow’s feet” at the outer corners of the eyes. Dynamic wrinkles are best treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic.
- UlcerCorneal ulcers are most commonly caused by infections. Infection can be due to bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Risks for corneal ulcer are contact lens use, trauma, or coming into contact with contaminated substances. Symptoms include decreased vision, redness, drainage, tearing, and light sensitivity. A corneal ulcer can result in vision loss and blindness. Treatment requires early recognition and antibiotic, antifungal or antiviral eye drops depending on the cause. Severe cases may require surgery.
