He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
- UltrasoundDr. Steven O. Ikenberry is clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Illinois at Rockford and joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd. in 2000. Dr. Ikenberry graduated from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and then completed a residency in Internal Medicine, a fellowship in Gastroenterology, and an advanced training fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine. He served as Chief Fellow and later remained on Faculty and became Co-Director of the Endoscopic Ultrasound Unit at Indiana University.
- Bariatric SurgeryDr. Aaron Shiels joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2004, and currently serves as Managing Partner. He is a board-certified Gastroenterologist. Dr. Shiels received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where he also completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship. As a Gastroenterology Fellow, Dr. Shiels received specialized training in diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary tract, including diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP. He participated in research projects studying biliary complications after liver transplant surgery and complications following bariatric surgery for morbid obesity.
