The amount I pay for rent is ridiculous. I have made numerous requests for maintenance and all of them have gone unanswered. The people below me smoke, therefore I smell the smoke constantly. My apartment was not fully clean when I moved in, and I'm sure when I move out that will fall on deaf ears. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Go somewhere where they actually care about you and not the money.

The gates seemed like a great place to live especially since they allowed pets. I was wrong that's for sure. First the woman who I dealt with for my lease ended up getting fired and she completely messed everything up. I was moving from Chicago to Rochester clearly I couldn't be present for everything. They told me I got the apartment and when I called to send my security deposit they informed me that no apartments were available. They made me live in one apartment that didn't allow pets for one month until they had a pet one open up. Made no price adjustments for the inconvenience and no offer to help me move all my stuff to another location. I had never had noise issues with my dog at previous apartments but this place has no sound proofing so my dog would bark when the upstairs neighbors large dog would bark, when they had their music and bass blaring and when the neighbors kids next door would scream and cry for hours. I ended up getting numerous noise complaints for her. I had friends over 2 times and the neighbors called the police on me to which the cops came and said they didn't find it to be loud at all. The gates gave me a handwritten eviction notice for which I had 24 hours to leave in the middle of winter. Of course the day after I had paid my rent. II fought with them and talked to a lawyer who said they were not allowed to do so and they have me 4 days. I had a roommate who forgot her parking pass one time and they had her car towed even though the vehicles are listed in the office on your lease including your license plate number it cost her $160 to get her car back and the office was very rude about it. While I was moving my friend parked his car for 10 minutes at 6 am to drop boxes off for me at which time they had his car towed he had to chase down the tow truck and give the driver $60 just to let it off the truck. They are very rude about giving out guest passes and tell you to have guests park across the street at a local business. It was an all around horrid experience and I would never reccommend anyone to live here especially if you have a pet

Im glad im moving from this place. We pay for a 3bedroom and 1.5bathrooms yet the upstairs bathroom has NEVER worked for the whole year we were here. I told them right when we moved in it didnt work and water leaked every time it was on, we were told that someone would be over. 3 months later it was STILL broken. i called and left messages and still no one came. The neighbors sit right outside the parking lot near my back door and smoke pot and drink from 9pm till 3am! Once i turned on the kitchen light and one of them were right outside my window! So i had to cal the police! I also have informed the people in the office tons of times! They still live there, of course. during a wind storm metal paneling from the top of the place flew off and almost hit my brothers girlfriend in the head and landed on her car! I told the office this and that squirrels were in the hole scratching in there while im trying to sleep. They JUST fixed it two days ago, this all happend 4 months ago! Im moving.

I thought the Gates was a suprisingly nice place for the amount of money they charged for rent. Management is firm...I had a neighbor who had the police over because of a loud party and the office had him kicked out by the next weekend. I appreciated that. All in all a great experience.

The Gates of Rochester. What a joke. My last landlord was more professional, and he left the country for months at a time without telling anyone. After moving in I had a discussion with the management about the kids that would smoke pot and drink beer in the entry way. 8 months later the same stuff is going on. I've asked for maintenance to come fix my bathtub faucet. I have went to the office once a week for 3 weeks now. Still no maintenance and my bathtub hasn't stopped running the whole time. I can't fix it myself because the water shut off is between the walls. They recently added a 3rd cable hook up to all the 3 bedroom apts. They dug holes for the new wires for about 3 weeks. Then one morning I had the cable company walk into my house saying it was an emergency. It was the cable company NOT maintenance that unlocked and walked in. If I had to choose again I'd pick a cardboard box before this place..

I was not happy after moving in to the Gates. Rented a townhome and did not have washer and dryer hook up. It was hard to move funiture up stairs due to the narrow hallway going up. Work out room what a joke.........not hardly nothing in there and the equipment was broken most of the time. Staff that work there are not friendly, but they sure are after you first move in. My son was assualted by one of the staff and they continue to live and work there........it is unsafe and poor management.
