She provided and taught me stretches and movements that helped decrease my pain and increased my neck mobility. I do these stretches 1st thing every morning. WOW!! 4 appts over 2 weeks = PAIN FREE!!! I now have the tools AND knowledge that help me be proactive daily. Thanks Kaitlyn you are a gift!! ❤️

- Family PracticeI was referred to ActivePT by my Family Practice physician at Mayo Clinic. I had a total knee replacement in November of 2021 and wanted to increase my knee flexion and strength in that leg. My PT was Carly and she was great. She listened to what I wanted to accomplish with PT and put together a plan which was successful in exceeding my goals. I highly recommend ActivePT and Carly.
- Pelvic Pain
- Pregnancy
- Labor and DeliveryAbout 2 months postpartum, I started to have a tremendous amount of low back, pelvic and upper leg pain. At the worst times, I could hardly climb a flight of stairs without crawling up them, couldn’t walk and carry my baby at the same time and couldn’t tolerate riding in a vehicle. This wasn’t feasible so I sought help from anyone and everyone I could think of. My doctor recommended ActivePT to help regain strength in my pelvic floor and help locate the root cause of this severe pain. The staff at ActivePT were always kind, welcoming, understanding and knowledgeable. I started being seen weekly and after 4 sessions I was finally starting to feel like myself again and able to care for my child and myself. The staff would slowly increase my home exercises, fully examine function at every appointment and worked with me to achieve my therapy goals. I would recommend ActivePT to any woman who is experiencing pelvic floor pain/issues after childbirth as they helped me get back into alignment and taught me how to regain strength appropriately.
- Cancer Care
- Stress ManagementOne word which I would use to describe my experience is "Grateful"! I really didn't have much movement if my left arm and shoulder. My journey of healing at Active PT required, an open mind, trust in my therapist, stress management, pushing myself through the pain and doing my part of the program. My shout out goes to, Kaitlyn Fischer, who established trust, which in turn let me approach this journey with an open mind to try different techniques she suggested. She helped me reach milestones that I wasn't sure I would see again. I highly recommend Kaitlyn and the Active PT team.
- X-Rays
- SciaticaI also can’t say enough good about Active PT! I went in for sciatica pain(a common problem for me for years). Hunter, my PT, listened to me, tested me, relieved my pain in a couple of different hands on techniques and gave me exercises to do. I had a LONG plane ride to Germany coming up in 2+ weeks and I am happy to report that I had no sciatic pain sitting that long(11+hours)! That is amazing and a first! Thank you Hunter and Andrew!
- Ankle SurgeryActivePT is a great place to go for your physical therapy. They are friendly, go at your pace, flexible with schedules and convenient right here in Lake City. All of their staff is personable and you feel comfortable telling them if you are not ready for the next step. Thank you ActivePT for your amazing service in our small town! I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you Brady for your patience and great recommendations to help me through my rehab after ankle surgery.
- HysterectomyLife changing. I have dealt with pelvic pain for years now, ever since the birth of my 3rd child. I had a doctor tell me that my prolapse would only get worse and that eventually a hysterectomy would be my only option to feeling relief. After researching, I found that that there are pelvic floor physical therapists. I put off going, as it can be hard to make time for myself. When I finally got tired of dealing with the daily pain, I made an appointment to see Heather Dunfee. She was welcoming, personable, and literally helped me to see results after the first visit. After 8 weeks of seeing her, I no longer have any pain, understand what exercises can help strengthen my core, and am thrilled that I don't have to resign myself to a life of pain (or resorting to a hysterectomy). My advice is to stop putting things off and just go. It is worth the investment into yourself and Active PT has a wonderful team of professionals. I highly recommend them and am incredibly thankful I stumbled upon their office. I will forever be grateful to Heather!
- Hip ReplacementI strongly recommend Ashlee, She is very Friendly, Knowledgeable, Professional and Understanding. She was very helpful with Strengthening and Flexibility after my hip replacement surgery and back issues. Give her a try at Active PT in North Mankato!! Thanks again Ashlee !!!
- Knee ReplacementMy experience at Active PT was exceptional. I was very unhappy with the progress a year after knee replacement so asked my doctor to refer me for some therapy. After a couple months with Gabby it is life changing how my knee has changed. She gave me the confidence to work the leg and make amazing progress. I walk with confidence again and no pain. I would recommend Active PT to anyone.
- Reconstructive SurgeryI would strongly recommend Active PT for any elbow or tricep issues. I was referred to Adam Shaffer / Active PT by my surgeon at the Mayo Clinic.I had reconstructive surgery on my tricep tendon on May 17, 2021. After getting my brace off on September 1, 2021, I needed to work on range of motion. Adam helped me get from a 93 degree bend to a 143 degree bend in just over a month, which was faster than expected. I've therefore been able to start strength training.I saw Adam 2x/wk in person and did exercises which he prescribed on my own 2-3x/day. You have to put the work in.Active PT was able to fit me in on short notice and was able to accommodate my busy schedule. Additionally, the facility is covid safe as everyone is required to wear a mask.If you're looking for a great physical therapist and are in Rochester, contact Active PT.
- Sports MedicineTo illustrate the gravity of the situation, let’s look at some statistics from a 2014 study published in the Journal of Sports Medicine. This study shows that 45% of players pitched in leagues without any pitch counts or limits. Further, 43.5% pitched on consecutive days and 30.4% pitched on multiple teams with overlapping seasons. These risky behaviors increase the chances of injury significantly.
- Physical TherapyThe ActivePT Orthopedic Residency will provide an up to date evidence-based education to orthopedic physical therapists that will advance clinical knowledge, skills, affective behaviors, research knowledge, and professionalism. The residency program will develop Orthopaedic Specialists who will provide enhanced physical therapy care to the community we serve. The program will promote practices of continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.
- Frozen ShoulderI received therapy for a frozen shoulder. I had visits with both Alyssa and Robin who were awesome! Both of them explained things well and were so helpful in answering questions. I always felt very comfortable working with them and had great results. I thought the location was convenient and clean. I would definitely recommend them to others.

- Ankle SprainI started seeing Dr. Courtney Hilmanowski at Active PT after a severe ankle sprain, and I am so glad I did!Active PT partnered with my gym (Progression Fitness) so I was able to make my appointments at the gym. This gave us the chance to practice some of my physical therapy using the gym equipment so I knew I was doing it right. Courtney also really knew the kinds of workouts we did and was able to give me very specific guidance on how to modify or swap out moves. We took the time to focus on what felt good and what was overdoing it, so my ankle could get better rather than worse. They had a terrific app to guide me in my physical therapy exercises and track how difficult it was each day. So if I had a day I pushed it too hard, we could both see it in my numbers. We met every couple weeks to adjust the physical therapy exercises, and when we agreed I knew how to handle it, we ended our sessions with no pressure and an open invitation to call if I needed more help.Working with Courtney at Active PT helped me align my current needs with my long term goals. She gave me the tools I needed to make this a minor setback rather than a 6month break from the gym. Thank you SO MUCH! Highly recommend to any Cross-Fitter!!

- TMJ DysfunctionI had pretty debilitating TMJ symptoms from years of jaw clenching that were acutely aggravated from a dental procedure. The pain rose to a point where I was having difficulty concentrating at work, and I was unable to sleep at night, or eat food for the most part. I had a lot of issues trying to find any provider who took ownership of treating TMJ until I was referred to active PT. Immediately upon meeting them they offered dry needling as a means to break the muscle spasm in my jaw, and were able to meet with me regularly during the acute period to meticulously work through the dysfunction that had developed. Within several weeks I am pain free, and able to live a normal life thanks to their wonderful care. Would 10/10 recommend for anyone experiencing any form of TMJ dysfunction.
- Achilles TendonitisI can't say enough good things about this place.... The absolutely go above and beyond! They work so hard to accommodate my son's schedule since he is in school and attending PT twice a week. He had been doing PT in the pool and he has improved so much we now get to do PT in the RAC gym! I used to come here for Achilles tendonitis. I was barely walking when I started due to intense pain. It was a long process of therapy but they were amazing. Pain was almost completely gone when I stopped therapy. Now it is completely healed. I tried other places before but they did not help me at all. I am so glad I was told about Active PT from a friend! Friendly staff from the receptionists to every PT I worked with! You won't be disappointed!
- Ankle SprainJust go already! I was very reluctant to go to PT after an ankle injury but I wouldn't think twice again. Mike was excellent to work with and the program he put together has made all the difference in my recovery. A very patient-centric and individualized approach. The rest of the staff made life easy with scheduling, billing, etc. Highly professional group that I would trust with any injury rehab.
