Special Mold Engineering is a second generation, family owned and operated corporation. SME specializes in the manufacture of sophisticated plastic injection mold bases and mold inserts. The company also make prototype, standard, compression and die cast mold bases. SME services both domestic and international customers in the consumer, electronics, pharmaceutical and automotive industries. The company is comprised of numerous departments, including raw material, grinding, vertical CNC, horizontal CNC and gun drill department. In addition, the company offers DCC CMM inspections for tolerance verification for ISO and QS requirements. SME was founded in 1973 and is located in Rochester Hills, Mich.
