General Info

Dr. Kim obtained his M.D. degree from Yonsei University's College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea and finished his postgraduate training in adult psychiatry at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He subsequently completed his fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of South Florida in Tampa. After he completed his postgraduate training, he began his geriatric psychiatry career with the Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and cared for the older veterans for 26 years. Dr. Kim formerly held a rank of Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia while working for the Salem VAMC. He is currently with Carilion Clinic Center for Healthy Aging and he is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He is interested in the areas of dementia care coordination, neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia, and grief and grief counseling in older adults.
