I had an appointment at Kartezs Family Eye Care, on Peters Creek Rd. In Roanoke VA. It was a bad experience from the beginning. I am training a service dog, which they refused to allow in the building. Then I was placed in a room for over a half hour to wait for Dr. Kartezs. After a routine eye exam the Dr. said he wanted to run some tests. I had already explained on check in,I did not have insurance and would be paying cash for my exam. Without explanation, the Dr Kartezs placed drops in my eyes then left the room. I was taken to an area to look at frames. I asked about the tests the Dr. wanted to run and was not given an answer. I took several pair of frames from the shelf and could not get a full price on having them fitted with my prescription. They would not give me the price with all the add-ons. I became frustrated and my wife and I decided to leave. I asked at the desk how much I owed and was told $35. I paid and intended to not ever do business with people who treat me like they are doing me a favor by doing business with me. 5 weeks later I received a bill in delinquency for $60. I called and was told by the office manager. They were doing me a favor by not charging me the whole amount at the time of the visit because they wanted to run it through my insurance, even though I told them I had no eye care coverage. They told me even though their bill said I was 30-60 days past due. That was a computer issue they had no control over. So even though I was left in a room, questions about exams went unanswered incomplete billing problems and not being able to get a straight answer on a price of glasses, the office manager told me she stood by their excellent record and the issues I experienced were my problem. I would not recommend going to this office.
