I’ve been recommending the services of Grayson Prillaman’s team at Davenport over the past 15 years because when I initiated them as our financial advisers, I challenged Grayson to teach me new basics of investing, keep me informed if investing trends, and invite us to on site Davenport workshops. Over the timeline we’ve been with Davenport, Grayson has gotten us to invest in two market investment tools- 1. Dogs of the Dow, and 2. The Dorsey Wright equity model based on the six available categories. Grayson has also ensured that we’re buying muni bonds in the correct account (our trust account) and other investments in our fee based accounts - where it makes sense to put tax deferred items in the right account and stocks in the correct portfolio. I rarely get “shaken”by the daily ups and downs of Wall Street, but during the last quarter, I was asking Davenport for some reassurance that the stock market is still on a course of bullish perspective. Grayson referenced Davenport documents (I believe he was reading EM’s from corporate) that gave stocks a good outlook based on data and also shared verbal views from the Sue Birdie (or Burgey report) which gave an outlook on financial markets and the economy. Although Roanoke is not their largest office, whenever Richmond has an invitation for investors to gather to attend presentations by the gurus in different industries, Grayson has never failed to ensure we get invited to the soirée annually. I’ve referred friends to Grayson and his team of Teri and Charlie. Teri never fails to send me ValueLine reports if I request them as well as quarterly portfolio summaries. Charlie is a great resource whenever Grayson is tied up in a meeting or conference call, albeit if he’s going to be out of pocket for specific days, Grayson advises us when he’s on the road. One of the best networks is Grayson, his wife and oldest daughter... i’ve been invited to soccer matches in NJ that his daughter played in and enjoyed meeting his family. This team has figured out how a red carpet should be used with customers and “it works with Good People” supporting Davenport services.
