Go about 3X a year. Went yesterday & Sushi guy new to us. Got soup, Sushi rolls. Rice bland w/an after taste. Sushi flat not very good -only flavor was soy sauce/ginger. Thought it was me but hubby agreed food was not the usual. I got ill in evening, burped, stomach rolled all night/ AM. Hubby throwing up badly at 5AM! He worse than me, ate 4 sushi rolls. I believe it's FOOD POISONING and it's doctors this PM! Tried to phone Ben-Gui, CLOSED today! Paid over $100 w/no alcohol/salad plus tip! Be awhile before we go back!

One of my favorite places to eat!!! The staff is so friendly and always remembers us...The sushi is fantastic. My family and I always sigh, and say, "wish I was at Bengui's eating sushi!" :) My favorite is Philadelphia rolls and sashimi variety platters. I adore the miso soup. As does my 6 year old. Their salads are fantastic. I love the dressing, which they make in house. My husband likes the dynamite rolls, the eel, the octopus and just about everything else :) Its an all around fantastic place to dine on sushi

Ben Gui Sushi is an incredible place to eat. The food is top quality and the staff are very attentive. Being a relative sushi novice I was most impressed by the efforts made by the wait staff and the chef to match up the best food with my tastes. Our table ended up having the Kirin's Special, White Lightning Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Dumpling and Sashimi Variety Platter.... I tried them all and all were beyond excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I can be rather picky about sushi, but Ben Gui ALWAYS impresses me! I adore their "Trust Me" maki, especially the "Crazy Cowboy" roll. The daily specials are incredibly delicious, as well (I'd recommend the Snapper Bite appetizer). Basically, I've loved everything I've tried at Ben Gui.In addition to the scrumptious food, the staff at Ben Gui goes above and beyond. Ben, Dina, Seth, and Jane always greet me by name and ask after my family. When they have a moment, they often stop for a quick chat. This restaurant is a great place to bring friends (I've converted a few non-sushi eaters at Ben Gui), as well as family (my 2-year old son is welcomed there, despite the mess he makes).All in all a GREAT experience!

Ben Gui is by far the best sushi bar in Southwest Virginia. It is on par with some of the best sushi bars in the country. The fish is always fresh, the sushi chef is very knowledgeable as well as creative, and the service is great. Be prepared to wait on their busiest nights, but it is well worth it.

This is my favorite place to eat in town, not just for sushi. Everything from the floor to the ceiling is appealing. The "Trust Me" Maki is the most popular items, but its the off the menu items that makes this place shine. Ben himself is an artist. The best meals are the ones you let Ben or his help create for you. He always has something new for you to try if you trust him. Everything is always super fresh and full of flavor. The tempura and green tea are traditionally (light and refreshing) delicious. The help is always super friendly and eager to help in any way. I enjoy being able to go in for great conversation or fun, or be able to just sit quiet and read while I enjoy my food. This is definitely a family friendly atmosphere. I have eaten at every sushi place in town and even places all over the east coast and Ben Gui Sushi ranks as one of the best, especially for Roanoke VA. I will be back as well as my family and friends!

Ben Gui Sushi is super sushi!! The ''trust me "maki is the crown jewel of the mune, If you don't have a picky fallette, then the best meal you can get is to let the chef greate your mealfor you.the tempura was fantastic.the staff was super friendly and helpful.I'll definilely beback evey chance I get. I love Ben gui Sushi.

The worst sushi I have ever had. The miso soup was like water, think they forgot the miso paste. Tempura was greasy and tasteless, pricey for what you get. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Better Sushi restaurants in town.

We came for the first time last summer and tried various rolls and sushi and it was very good, the service was good and the staff was friendly.The sushi chef created a roll to my specifications and we named it the "Lee family roll" . You should try it! I would recommend Ben Gui to anyone looking for sushi in the Roanoke area .
