Adegbenga A. Bankole began practicing medicine in 2009 when he joined Carilion Clinic. He attended the University of Ibadan where he completed his medical education. He then attended State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where he completed his internship, medical residency, and Rheumatology fellowship.Dr. Bankoles clinical expertise includes systemic lupus erythematous (SLE), myositis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, scleroderma, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, sjogrens syndrome and gout. He performs ultrasound guided procedures some of which include carpal tunnel injections, joint and bursa aspiration and injection and trigger finger injections. He is an Executive committee member of the Virginia Society of Rheumatology. As well, he also serves on the Medical Scientific Advisory Council of the Lupus Foundation of America DC/MD/VA Chapter. He also is the point physician for the lupus support group that meet on a monthly basis. Dr. Bankole is also involved in research, clinical drug trials and educating the next generation of physicians. He holds an academic appointment as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.Dr. Bankole gets great joy and satisfaction in helping patients improve the quality of their life by taking part in their care and management. He most enjoys the relationships he develops with his patients and shares a positive outlook throughout their medical journey.
