Our Program Philosophy: Discovery Montessori Home School is proud to provide your children, an opportunity for most outstanding Montessori/Pre School education in a safe, nurturing, stimulating, and child friendly environment. Our Program Philosophy is designed to acquire the developmental needs of young children from ages 1 to 12 years. Our curriculum is based on this and we assess what children know, what they have been learning and how to adapt their curriculum and instructions to continually meet each childs changing individual strengths, inner needs, and interests. Children at Discovery Montessori Home School interact within the prepared classroom environment, working at their own developmental pace, while adhering to principles of grace, courtesy, and respect for each other and learning material. Our students are honored as unique and respected individuals. According to Montessori Philosophy, children are grouped developmentally, rather than chronologically. By grouping children in multi-group settings, younger children have a series of models for imitation and older children have an opportunity to reinforce their own knowledge and build self-confidence through helping younger children. We want children to be themselves and develop at their own pace, express themselves freely and creatively with art and play materials, while learning to be creative, cooperative, imaginative and happy. Our approach helps children to become creative thinkers who can solve problems themselves. We also encourage children to understand their own emotions and help them to cope up with difficult situations. A child, mostly learns the ground rules of human behavior between three and six years. These years can be constructively devoted to civilizing the child, freeing him/her through the acquisition of good manners and habits to take his place in his own culture. Great emphasis is placed on the childs inner development so that the child may know himself and perfect his own character and personality. Our professionally qualified and trained teachers who have specialized in both Montessori Method of Education and Pre School method of education systematically develop the academic areas of reading, writing, math, language skills, geography, history, zoology and botany in a 3 - year cycle of presentations. At every step of their learning, the teaching material is designed to test their understanding and helps self correcting. Having recognized that the only valid impulse to learning is the self-motivation of the children, we allow the children to move themselves towards functions as their instructors offer them stimulation and guidance. In our Home school, children are not pushed to achieve intellectual accomplishment. They are given the keys to exploration through sensorial material, which is an aid to clarifying and organizing the impressions their minds already hold.
