- Tree RemovalFollowing a tree removal, many homeowners opt to remove the remaining stump below-grade for purposes such as expanding the lawn area, planting a new tree, construction or paving. In addition to beautifying your property, this may also prevent an infestation of ants and termites at the site in the long term.
- Stump Grinding and RemovalWe have two different pieces of equipment to meet your stump grinding needs. Our smaller machine can fit in tight spaces such as through fence gates and backyards; our larger machine can handle wider, deeper stumps. We have removed stumps up to 12 feet in diameter, and have the ability to grind down as far as 18 – 20” assuming there is no rock bed or metal underneath the tree.
- Storm Damage CleanupTrees sometimes develop cavities or holes, which over time can damage the strength of the tree. This is common with storm damage. R&W follows a very intentional process for filling a cavity when necessary. Our climber will begin by removing any water or debris from the hole, shaping it with a chainsaw and/or chisels. At our discretion, the damage may be allowed to air-dry and heal naturally. Some larger, deeper cavities can be filled with foam or (usually) cement, so that the tree can heal properly and prevent further rot.

- Tree MaintenanceI have known the R & W guys for about fifteen years and will say that they are extremely knowledgeable and professional in doing their tree work. They’ve done work for me and some of my neighbors and it’s always been a great job. What really blows me away is their honesty in selling firewood. Many people who buy firewood get an undersized cord of unseasoned wood dumped in their driveway and then wonder why it doesn’t burn right. This never happens when you use R&W hardwoods. You always get a full cord of well seasoned hardwood that is ready to burn. I have been burning R&W hardwoods for many, many years and I will never buy anything else. There’s nothing like getting next to a stove full of R&W firewood when the snow is falling, with a cold Wolaver in your hand. You just throw another chunk of R&W in the stove, take a swig of that Wolaver and think…….life is good.
- Tree Cabling and BracingIn certain circumstances, it will be necessary to install more than one cable to properly secure a tree. Aesthetically, the cables are difficult to see. While cabling is no guarantee, it is a more affordable option and may preserve the life of your tree.
- Arborist ServicesWith over 60 years of experience and tradition, R & W has experienced many changes and innovations in the arborist industry. In 1947, trees were all topped and done with hand saws. Eventually smaller and lighter chain saws were used. In the late 1950’s and early 60’s, they did land clearing using chain saws and fire to clear the land. They would knock down trees and transport branches on flat bed trucks, and use bulldozers on the land being cleared. In 1967, they purchased their first wood chipper and in 1969, they purchased their first dump truck. R &W has never believed in using spikes to climb when trimming the trees as it is not good for them. They strive to always do what is best all around.

- Tree MulchingWhen trimming or removing trees, R&W typically acquires waste in the form of woodchips. Our truck can hold 13 cubic yards of woodchips, which can delivered to your home. These can be used as mulch around existing or newly planted trees, shrubs, and wooded areas. This can be beneficial for a number of reasons: it prevents weed growth, it helps to hold moisture in the ground, works to keep roots from dehydrating or freezing, and provides additional nutrients to the soil as the woodchips decay. A fresh load of woodchips can help to beautify your property! Half and full loads are available. Contact us for pricing.
