The Medical Assistance Services Department offers a spectrum of health benefits and nursing programs and related services. It provides long-term care, waiver and provider services, maternal and child health care, and pharmacy and managed care services. In addition, the department offers health manuals and education, as well as various programs related to Medicaid, prescription assistance, group umbrella cover, and state and local hospitalization. The Medical Assistance Services Department operates through various service providers that offer claims and billing information, prior authorization, transportation services and e-newsletters. The department also provides family planning and baby care, as well as school services and a mental health program. It maintains an office in Richmond, Va.
