With my child's piano recital coming up next week I've been thinking about the incredible progress he has made since he started taking lessons with the Academy of Music 5 years ago. His teachers have all been excellent teaching him not only music but about personal responsibility, dedication and the importance of hard work. These virtues have even carried over into his school work. Talk about a plus! We were so proud of him and his teachers were impressed when he played a serious piano piece at the school's talent show earlier this year. I was a student at the Academy of Music for seven years, througout middle and high school. During my time with the Academy, I not only received first rate instruction in playing the harp, but was also provided with extraordinary performance and outreach opportunities. My experience at the Academy opened my eyes to the enormous potential for me to do good in the world while also pursuing something I love. Now, my sister is taking voice lessons at the Academy and thriving in the same nurturing, challenging, and exciting atmosphere which I experienced during my time as a student there.

We found Mrs. Ediger-Kordzaia by chance and it turned out to be an amazing gift to my daughter. Mrs. Ediger-Kordaia has impressive musical credentials, is solidly grounded in classical music but encourages the kids to learn what they enjoy listening to. The style of education at the Academy is lively and subtle; no pressure before the kids are developmentally and musically ready to be challenged. Her instructor is upbeat, happy and excited for accomplishments my daughter makes consistently. Her style of teaching integrates ways for students to have success experiences with learning repeatedly. Because I have to drive into the city, I appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and the ability to chat with other parents and students. The mileu is safe and warm. The summer institute has been a fun way for our daughter to learn music history and theory with other kids!

As a parent, I feel the Academy of Music has made an amazing contribution to my daughter's musical training. All of the instructors at the Academy are patient and caring yet firm enough to instill a love of music and the seriousness of the practice.
