Despite the client pleading guilty avoiding a trial, the fee wasn't changed. Over 50 letters from family, friends & other professionals were the reason the judge gave for giving the client a lesser sentence. The client's family started the letter writing campaign & was left destitute after paying the fee. When the attorney was interviewed by the media, he was quoted as saying that he would be refunding at least $10,000.00 or more to his client's family. This never happened.
