The Department of Planning and Community Development works with citizens and elected officials to develop long-range land use and transportation plans, reviews new developments to ensure city and state laws are followed and serves as a catalyst to help the community build partnerships in human services. It also manages the city's communication, public outreach and commute trip reduction programs. The department maintains a building division that provides permitting, plan review and inspection services to ensure that buildings are safe for the citizens of Redmond, Wash.
