Great firefighters, lousy peace officers. We have a remote ranch in the SW corner of Shasta County and cannot get any of these so called "officers" to come up the dirt roads and deal with law enforcement issues on the thousands of acres of USFS nearby our ranches. They spend more time trying to entrap locals on the local highway than EVER patrolling their actual jurisdiction in the remote dirt road back wood areas of local USFS lands. We have been told by numerous sources that they are afraid to do so. When I was a patrolman for nearly 25 years I had to patrol back wood areas often by myself w/o any back up so don't understand how they get away with it and have to also assume that they are squeamish to do their job that they have been assigned to do certainly not protecting the wildlife whatsoever or doing any poaching patrol which we greatly need. 0 rating.
