Established in 1987, the St. James Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America. The hotel was built when Red Wing, Minn., was heralded as one of the largest wheat markets in the world. All of the guest rooms are individually decorated in a Victorian-style and are named after riverboats that traveled the Mississippi River. The hotel also offers The Boardroom, an oversized executive suite complete with upscale amenities. Standard rooms feature one or two double beds, cable television, phone, wireless Internet, compact disc player, and iron and ironing board. The large rooms feature the same amenities as the standard rooms but are equipped with one king or two queen beds. The hotel features three full-service restaurants and three additional dining options that include Port Restaurant, the Veranda, Jimmy s Pub, Clara s Gifts and Coffee, Shoe Box Deli and the Summit.
