Jay Warren White, D.O. is an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist) in Rapid City, South Dakota with more than 25 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. White has extensive experience in and focuses much of his practice on pediatric ear, nose and throat conditions. Dr. White also has a dedicated commitment to the care of rhinology (nasal disorders), sinus and allergy problems. He is actively involved in the allergic diagnosis and treatment of his patients and takes a thoughtful approach to the care of many chronic nasal problems including allergies, sinusitis, nasal airway breathing issues, congestion and drainage. He also treats a full spectrum of ear and throat disorders, such as voice dysfunction and chronic cough. Dr. White earned his medical degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1997 and completed his post-graduate training at St. John's Health System in Detroit, Mich. Dr. White practiced in the Cincinnati, Ohio area for eight years before returning to his home state of South Dakota. Dr. Whites roots are based in Doland, S.D., a small town in the northeastern part of the state.Dr. White initially began his professional career as a teacher and spent the better part of his undergraduate years working with children at various civic organizations, including YMCA. He later found his way to medicine and during his medical training was fascinated with the complexity of the head and neck anatomy and all the interactions between the various organ systems of the ears, nose and throat.Dr. White recognizes that ear, nose and throat conditions are often distressing to patients, and finds it rewarding to help patients find relief. He also enjoys taking care of children and their families, and making improvements in childhood ear, nose and throat conditions holds a special place for him.
