- Pediatric CareWelcome to Black Hills Pediatrics. Black Hills Pediatrics, LLP. was founded in November 1983 by three general pediatricians, Dr. Sam Mortimer, Dr. Donald Oliver, and Dr. Willis Sutliff. Since then, the clinic has expanded and currently has seven full-time pediatricians along with a pediatrician who takes call every Thursday for our group at Monument Health. We also have four full-time and one part-time allied health professionals on staff.
- Primary CareMedicaid: If your child is covered under the South Dakota Medicaid Program and you wish one of our providers to be your child’s Primary Care Physician (PCP), you need to contact our office to receive a letter of acceptance from that provider
- Family PracticeWe are actively involved in the teaching of pediatric medicine to medical students, family practice residents, and allied health professionals.
- Emergency CareWe proudly remain committed to being one of the few clinics that provide both inpatient and outpatient care. In 1987, Black Hills Pediatrics was the first medical clinic in Rapid City to provide urgent care clinics during the evenings and weekends.
- Infectious DiseasesDr. David W. Mueller is a board-certified pediatrician with special interests in respiratory illness, child abuse, and infectious diseases. He was born and raised in the Black Hills area and joined our group in June of 2007. Dr. Mueller is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. Dr. Mueller is currently the Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Rapid City Regional Hospital and is also the Medical Director of the Child Advocacy Center of The Black Hills. He is married and has three children. He enjoys playing and coaching soccer, hiking and gaming.
- ImmunizationsWe believe that vaccination is the single most important aspect of preventive care we offer as healthcare providers and that you perform as parents.
- UrologyJenny McIntosh grew up in Wyoming. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University in 2006. She worked at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, until 2010 when she returned to South Dakota. Since moving back, she has worked for Monument Health and the Fort Meade VA Medical Center. After graduating from Maryville University as a Certified Nurse practitioner in 2020, she began working in urology. In 2022 she joined Black Hills Pediatrics, L.L.P., providing care for children and young adults. Jenny is married with two busy daughters. Her free time is spent with her family, cooking, and being outdoors in the Black Hills.

- NeurosurgeryBrittany grew up in Rapid City. She earned her BSN from SDSU and worked at Avera Mckennan in Sioux Falls from 2010-2014. After graduating from USD with her MS-PAS in 2014, she started working in Neurosurgery. In 2017 she joined us here at Black Hills Pediatrics and has enjoyed working with children and young adults. He passion includes spending time with her family and being outdoors in the Black Hills.
