General Info
St. John’s Episcopal School is committed to the development of every child’s full, God-given potential. The philosophy of education at St. John’s over the past 24 years includes an emphasis on academic excellence and standards of conduct, with a special focus on character development. Being a part of St. John’s means belonging to a dynamic and caring community. The diverse student body ranges from Preschool to 8th Grade, and many students have attended St. John’s for most of their lives, and have grown up with one another. There is a wholehearted dedication from everyone at St. John’s to encourage the growth of the “whole child.” Faculty, staff and parents model the key points of character education that are incorporated throughout the curriculum. Their example, coupled with a strong curriculum, is reflected in the attitude and spirit of the student body. A rigorous academic curriculum is taught by caring faculty, creating a nurturing environment for development spiritually, emotionally, creatively and academically. In creating an experience to allow for a personal and highly individualized education, St. John’s keeps class sizes small, instructional aides in every Elementary classroom and features breakout groups for Math and Reading, according to ability level. Learning Resource Specialists and the START program offer extra help for children with developmental and academic needs, while the Gifted Resource Specialists offer a Reading Enrichment and Scholars Program. These programs complement the curriculum to address the needs of children with a variety of learning styles.
