I am a HVAC owner. And frankly i do not like RSM Plumbing. They advertise in all cities with a different name using each city as their name which is against the Contractor License Board Law. I am working on shutting them dowm. Look in Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Beach and so on and their name is different for all cities. with that said, to their defense, 580 plus labor is a little high but not that much. What people do not realize is it cost a company money to operate and pay employees. For every 4100 an employee is pair it cost the business another $500 in taxes and truck cost. I once bought a door latch for my truck from Ford for 15 bucks, so it cost Ford 7 bucks. Well they gave me the wrong door latch. So in 8 attempts to install the latch before knowing it was wrong, I was able to get the install time down to 15 minutes. So that means Ford can do it in 10 minutes. A year later the other latch went out and I did not have the time to repalce it. So Ford replaced it for $295
I called them repair the heater in my home.1. They were 2 hours late for the appointment. No phone call to reschedule. I was told that they were going to be late when I called them to find out if they were coming at all.2. I was told by the tech that we needed to replace the circuit board which was going to cost $580.00 plus the labor costs. When I told them I needed to think about it and call them back, I was charged $125 for the service call which I was told that could be applied toward the installation of the part (labor) if I were to be able to find the part myself.3. I found the part for $190 through a web site and called back the SM Plumbing, I was told that they could not honor their words and apply the service fee toward the installation. In fact, I was told that they would not even come out to install the part because they were "in the business to make money" and without the mark-up they were going to charge me on the part, they were not going to bother.
