"Tropical Sun began in August of 1992 with the opening of our salon at Western & Capitol. In 1993, the Daily Breeze began its “Best of the South Bay” readers poll. That year readers voted Tropical Sun the best. They did the next year as well. In fact, they have voted us the best every year since then. We have continued to make improvements every year and in 2002, on our tenth anniversary, we opened a second salon in the South Shores shopping center. In 2003, we were selected as one of the 250 top salons in the U.S. by Looking Fit magazine, the only salon in Southern California to receive that award. We were one of the first salons in Southern California to offer “sunless tanning” with the introduction of Mystic Tan in 2006. In September of 2011 we introduced Infinity Sun custom airbrush spray tanning at our South Shores salon, the same system used by Dancing with the Stars."
