I bought a bed set here about two weeks ago. Zeman was my sales guy. Nice enough, seemed knowledgeable. The selection was about as good as any mattress store in the area. I have a bad back and have always heard that firm was the way to go. I'm here to tell you, depending on your back problem, firm can make it worse. The bed I bought was painful to sleep on, and harder than the one on the showroom floor, so after the second night I came back to Ortho looking for a softer replacement. Of course, by that time the promotional sale had expired.



The problem with Ortho is their return policy; 20% Re-Stocking Fee plus $90 delivery. It's not competitive. Just 75 feet from Ortho (Rancho Cucamonga), in the same parking lot, is Sleep Train. Sleep Train has no re-stocking fee, and if they do not have a bed that suits your needs for exchange, they will refund your money in full. I went there first, but by the time I got to Ortho, I was so burned out on shopping I was ready to buy and wasn't paying attention to the details.



I'm going shopping today for a mattress replacement. My intention is to give my new Ortho bed to Good Will. I need to write this up to experience. When it comes to mattresses, the better the return policy, the better the store. It can take months for a new mattress to show its true nature. Ortho gets one star for a seriously bad return policy.



FYI, Sam's Club and Costco online have a huge selection of beds, and very few limitations on returns. True, you can't try before you buy, but you can get a full refund if you're not satisfied.
