  Because we value your comfort, Dr. Galligan has invested in ultrasonic dental technology for preventative cleanings, scaling and root planing. With ultrasonic cleaning, we will remove more dental tartar and provide a more comfortable experience. Ultrasonic cleaning can take less time compared to hand scaling. You won’t have to endure traditional tartar scraping you may have experienced in the past.
• Dental Sealants
  Dental sealants protect teeth against decay-causing bacteria. They are applied to teeth with deep grooves where decay most often occurs. When sealants are used for preventing decay, we find a significant reduction in the number of cavities in pediatric patients. Dr. Galligan is a strong proponent of sealants and personally applies them with the most stringent technique to ensure their highest quality. Using a special modern material, called glass ionomer, sealants at Galligan Family Dentistry not only create a cavity barrier, they also excel by being moisture tolerant and release fluoride to the tooth, creating lasting sealants and an extra level of protection.   “ I came to Dr. Galligan for “6 month braces”. It was a fairly new technique that involved straightening or in my case closing spaces in my teeth within 6 months. My treatment took a little longer than expected (1 year), but the results were great! Dr. Galligan, nor I thought the outcome would turn out so well. I have fairly small teeth and he originally suggested that I get veneers to widen my smile. But the braces did the job perfectly. Very courteous staff! I would recommend to anyone.

  Children in the post-toddler phase of oral health are often referred to as being in ‘mixed dentition’. This is an important stage to undergo routine oral health evaluations with Dr. Galligan and his pediatric dentistry focused team since many dental changes have recently occurred, new hygiene expectations are forming, and permanent forever-teeth are being cared for. The mixed dentition ages are a time when our pediatric patients will learn advanced hygiene techniques for cleaning all surfaces of the teeth and prepare them for a lifetime of healthy habits. This too is a time when certain orthodontic malocclusions are addressed and early interceptive orthodontic treatment is implemented. • Invisalign Orthodontics
  Adult patients, depending of the severity of their condition, wear a set of clear aligners for 3-9 months, on average. Invisalign patients progress through 5 or more aligners during treatment that are typically changed every two weeks. Aligners must be worn at least 20 hour per day and only removed when eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. With time, the patient’s teeth progressively move. Convenience factors also include appointment times and frequency, as orthodontist visits are often less frequent and range from 4-8 weeks, depending on the stage of treatment.

Since opening his family practice in 2006, he has earned prestigious fellowship accreditations with the Academy of General Dentistry and International Association for Orthodontics by completing a vast array of general, pediatric, orthodontic advanced training and professional testing. Having lived in the Raleigh area since 1994, Dr. Galligan is thrilled to serve the families of North Raleigh, Wake Forest, and the surrounding Raleigh communities. In his free time, Dr. Galligan enjoys exploring and vacationing in the North Carolina mountains and beaches. His greatest ambition is to continue exploring the world and great outdoors with his family.
