- Dental CareDental cleanings and surgery. Dental care is very important for your cats and dogs. Unlike us, they do not brush their teeth every day and this often leads to diseased teeth, gums, halitosis (bad breath), and oral pain. Our veterinarians can assess your pet’s dental health and give information on how to best take care of their mouths.Annual dental cleanings after a few years of age are recommended for all cats and dogs. A dental cleaning involves dental scaling, polishing, and full radiographs. All dental procedures are done under full anesthesia.
- VaccinationWe will help take care of your pet whether they need updated vaccinations or may be ill. All doctor’s appointments begin with a full physical exam.
- Nutritional Counseling
- Comprehensive ExaminationAn annual exam is recommended even if you have no medical concerns about your pet. Regular wellness exams allow us to detect medical conditions in their early stages, making them easier to treat with less expense and greater success rates. Our veterinarians are trained and experienced to notice subtle changes in your pet, some which may be hiding at home. During your pet’s comprehensive “nose to tail” physical exam, your veterinarian will assess your pet’s health and address any recommended treatments.
- Parasites Treatment and Control
- Behavioral Disorder TreatmentWe require proof of current vaccinations for all pets boarding with us. Dogs should be up to date on Rabies, DAPP (distemper combo), Bordetella, canine influenza and a recent fecal check. Cats should be up to date on Rabies, FVRCP (feline distemper combo), and a current fecal.
- Pain ManagementCommonly, pets may need teeth extracted due to mobility, bone loss, and severity of dental disease. Our veterinarians will speak with you on the phone and discuss any potential extractions and the associated costs. Do not worry, your pet will still be able to eat even if they are missing a few (or even all) of their teeth! Our goal is for your pet to have strong, healthy teeth as long as possible. However, sometimes an extraction is the only option to relieve pain or ensure that periodontal disease does not advance. If not extracted, many times a diseased tooth can compromise the surrounding tissue and neighboring teeth. If caught early, there are more treatment options available for periodontal disease. Pets are sent home with pain medication after having teeth removed.
- Vomiting Treatment
- Skin Condition and Allergy TreatmentRegular grooming is essential for reasons beyond appearance but for keeping your pet healthy, clean, and comfortable. Many skin and coat conditions can be prevented or managed by an appropriate grooming routine. Some breeds require more regular grooming than others. Curly coated dogs that do not shed (poodles, doodles) require grooming every 6-12 weeks. It is also important to maintain your pet's coat at home with regular brushing to avoid matting, where the hair becomes tight, tangled, and can cause pain and skin infection.
- Knee Problems Treatment
- Heart Disease TreatmentIf your pet has not had recent bloodwork done, we can perform a basic pre-anesthetic blood panel in-house to ensure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia. This panel allows us to customize your pet’s anesthesia protocol, and it provides information about any difficulties we should anticipate during the procedure. Almost all pets are given an intravenous catheter to help give IV fluids during surgery and allow IV access in the case of needing emergency medications. All surgery patients are monitored via blood pressure, pulse oximeter, capnograph, ECG, and temperature.
