Dr. John R. Tuttle was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and received his B.S. degree from the Ohio State University with honors and distinction in molecular genetics. He went on to simultaneously receive his Medical Doctorate and master's degree in applied anatomy from Case Western Reserve. He completed his orthopedic residency and trauma fellowship at Brown University. He went on to complete another fellowship in sports medicine at Northwestern University, where he acquired sub-specialty training with the team doctors of several professional teams in Chicago including the Blackhawks, Cubs, and Bears. Dr. Tuttle manages a vast array of injuries with a surgical focus on minimally invasive shoulder, elbow, and knee operations. He is actively engaged in medical research, has published over two dozen journal articles and book chapters, and is a frequent lecturer for education and training. Dr. Tuttle is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Virginia Orthopedic Society, American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Trauma Association, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Tuttle holds academic appointments as a Clinical Lecturer of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Virginia Tech/Carilion School of Medicine. He serves as team physician for Virginia Military Institute, Southern Virginia University, Washington and Lee University, and Cave Spring High School.
