The Emergency Department at Hasbro Childrenâ??s Hospital is the only emergency department in the region dedicated to the emergent and urgent medical needs of children and adolescents from birth to age 18 and beyond. As the region's only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, we are staffed 24 hours a day by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians and pediatric emergency nurses with access to pediatric surgeons and other pediatric subspecialists. Each year, more than 53,000 patients are treated in the ED, which offers a dedicated space for sedation, behavioral health care, family waiting, a rapid treatment unit and an adjacent six-bed clinical decision unit for patients requiring periods of longer emergency department observation.
