Founded in 1937, the Benton Rural Electric Association is a nonprofit electric cooperative that provides a range of electric power transmission, control and distribution services. It serves customers in Benton and Yakima counties in Washington. The cooperative serves residential, commercial, industrial, and agriculture and irrigation facilities. The Benton Rural Electric Association s services department offers conservation, electric safety, renewable energy and economic development services. It provides various scholarship programs that are designed to promote education, dedication, leadership and commitment. The cooperative additionally conducts computer classes for its member-owners. The Benton Rural Electric Association s education programs include topics, such as intermediate Internet, introduction to Vista and search functions. It allocates capital credit to the members.
