Long River Middle School offers academic programs to more than 650 students. It serves children in grades six through eight and is located in Prospect, Conn. The school offers traditional courses in language arts, science, social studies, mathematics and reading. It also provides foreign language classes and unified arts programs. Additionally, the school offers classes in computer applications, consumer science, health and physical education. Its sports activities include cheerleading, cross country, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer. The school also offers talented and gifted and other literacy support programs. Its media center offers reference books, periodicals, videotapes and filmstrips. Long River Middle School also has a parent-teacher organization that sponsors book fairs and fundraising events.
