Laureate Pharma's protein purification and other production processes are pure poetry in motion. The contract manufacturing organization develops, manufactures, and packages products used by pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies to make drugs. Its biopharmaceutical division specializes in making monoclonal antibodies and provides protein production and purification. Laureate also provides extended release development, product formulation, aseptic filling, and bulk processing. Partners include Southern Research Institute and GTC Biotherapeutics. Early in 2005 investment firm Safeguard Scientifics acquired Laureate Pharma and plans to finance its growth.
