Founded in 1952, the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association is a cooperative-owned, wholesale electric power producer and distributor. The association caters to the energy needs of communities and small towns throughout a more than 240,000-square-mile service area across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming. The Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association serves over 1 million customers and employs nearly 1,000 staff members. It generates electricity through various power plants with the use of coal and natural gas. In addition, the association purchases power and utilizes renewable resource technologies. The Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association administers a system operations training program and operates Burlington Station plant.
