The Division of Protection and Permanency provides consultation, technical assistance and individual protection services. Located in Prestonsburg, Ky., the division offers counseling and support services related to domestic abuse and neglect. It also provides adoption and foster care services. The Division of Protection and Permanency offers referral, family support and volunteering services. The division is a part of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, which provides adult day care and employment assistance services. The department offers transportation, treatment, and mental health and respite care services to individuals with disabilities. The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services administers the Medicaid program, which provides medical assistance services for low-income individuals and families.
