The City of Poway Safety Services Department encompasses both the sheriffs department and the fire department. The fire department contracts with the San Diego County Sheriffs Department for services in law enforcement. The City of Poway Safety Services Department is a class 3 department that works to reduce the loss of lives and property from fire, medical and environmental emergencies through education and hazard reduction and response. It employs a staff of more than 45 sworn fire suppression personnel, uniformed fire inspectors, secretarial personnel and chief officers. Established in 1961, the City of Poway Safety Services Department is located in Poway, Calif.
