- Comprehensive ExaminationDr. Charlie Fahy is residency trained in large animal internal medicine and is skilled at diagnosing and treating patients using history, physical exam findings, and carefully selected diagnostics. They are experienced in treating and managing a variety of cases from chronic conditions to those needing emergency and critical care. In addition to horses and other equines, Dr. Fahy will see alpacas, llamas, goats, sheep and pigs if referred by your veterinarian.

- Pain ManagementFollowing graduation, Dr. Smith accepted a surgical and medical internship at Oregon’s Willamette Valley Equine Hospital where she gained additional experience in anesthesia, pain control, surgery, hospitalization of critically ill patients, neurologic cases, emergency and trauma medicine, neonatal foal care, imaging, and other areas of modern equine veterinary practice. She has been with Sound Equine since 2010.
- Upper Respiratory Illness TreatmentDr. Fahy earned BS degrees in Biology and Animal Science from the University of Findlay in Findlay, OH. They then attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, with an equine emphasis, followed by a one year equine internship in field service and internal medicine. After their internship, Dr. Fahy completed a 3 year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, working with a variety of farm animals in addition to horses. Their interests and areas of expertise include emergency and critical care, neonatal medicine, respiratory disease, neurology, dentistry, and managing hospitalized patients.

- Arthritis TreatmentThis is a therapy for equine joint disease that slows the progression of osteoarthritis by inhibiting factors that lead to cartilage breakdown. A2M is a molecule that is found naturally in the blood and has been found to help prevent cartilage breakdown.
- Hip Dysplasia TreatmentThe lameness exam will begin by gathering your horse’s medical and farriery history and work/exercise routine through a series of questions, conversations, and previous medical records. Please have any previous medical records and diagnostic history available.
- Heart Disease TreatmentWe have in-house lab capabilities to quickly diagnose if the heart is under duress, as well as an EKG machine and some basic echocardiogram capabilities.

- Wound and Fracture CareOur veterinarians travel with a fully stocked truck and can diagnose and treat many medical issues right at your farm. Whether it’s an emergency eye exam, wound repair, radiographs for your farrier, or a lameness exam, our ambulatory horse and farm animal services are equipped to work at your location.
- Veterinary SurgeryDr. Cori Youngblood is a boarded large animal surgeon. She performs elective and emergency surgery at SEVH which now includes arthroscopy. She is currently accepting appointments for surgery.
- Spaying and NeuteringColts/Stallions: We perform castration and correction of inguinal hernias. We also offer urogenital surgery, including cryptorchid surgery (removal of retained testicles), amputation of the penis, and removal of bladder stones.
- Laboratory ServicesSound Equine Veterinary Hospital offers advanced equine diagnostic services both at our clinic and through our ambulatory services.
- X-RayRadiographs are often the first diagnostic imaging modality used to evaluate lameness. Digital Radiography allows for potentially greater detail than conventional radiography by having each image be processed by the computer.
