Germania of Poughkeepsie is a 400 Member (and growing) German American Club celebrating our German Heritage. We were formed in 1850 as the Germania Singing Society. Traditional German songs are still performed today by our Germania Singers. Germania is home to traditional German cooking. We support our club through fund raising that always involes delicious German fare pepared by volunteers.(some are are former Culinary Institute of America instructors and students) Germania also fields active soccer teams through our Blue and White Soccer Club, Traditional Bavarian folk dancers through our Germania Almrausch Shuhplattler Verein, Kinder Schuplattlers, a Kinderchor, German Language classes, and a Steuben club. We celebrate a 3 day Oktoberfest durig the 2nd weekend in September. We hope that you will join us soon!
