Based in Portsmouth, Ohio, Scioto County Board of MRDD, also known as Scioto County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities offers a variety of services to individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. Its early intervention program serves the developmental and educational needs of children of up to 2 years. The center offers various preschool classes to provide education to children of ages 3 to 5. It also has a school that offers educational and nursing services, social work, speech, occupational and physical therapies to children and youth of 5 to 21 years of age. The board s adult vocational center provides employment opportunities to adults with mental and developmental disabilities. Additionally, it offers residential, case management, recreational and family resource services. Its family resource services include providing financial assistance for respite care, home modification, adaptive equipment, special diets, training and counseling.
